The Government has also reinstated the Winter Fuel Payment this is a yearly tax free payment to help with energy costs.

SOMERSET RESIDENTS

For all somerset residents that are applicable, the council are working in partnership with local charities and community groups as well as distributing funds from the Government to offer a broad selection of essential free support for you – the local people!

 

The kind of vital local support that the Council is encouraging people to access includes:

  • Food Pantries
  • Advice and support for families and individuals, including help with food, mental health and lonlieness
  • Council tax support for people on a low income or who recieve certain benefits
  • Discretionary housing payments for people struggling with rent
  • Financial support for elderly residents who are struggling to heat their homes this winter

DEVON RESIDENTS

For anyone who lives in the Devon area there is a free energy advice service called Better Housing Better Health.

This service contains a team of trained advisors who are ready to provide you with:
